Fresh Foods/Fresh Chefs

It’s the blessing and curse of market day at the South of the James Farmers Market: So much amazingly fresh, local produce — but deciding how to cook it all can leave you stewed.

Problem solved. The South of the James Farmers Market presents its Fresh Foods/Fresh Chefs cooking series. One chef surrounded by 100 vendors serving up the freshest local food available in Richmond, showing market customers how it’s done.

Kicking off the series is Chef Samuel “Rude Boy” Baker, long-time afternoon and Sunday brunch chef at Hermitage Grill, and self-described “punk rock purveyor of produce”.

Each Saturday, Chef Sam shops the market for ingredients and then whips up meals in front of market customers. (Connect with Chef Sam on Facebook)

Lauren McDonald of Vegology is helping Chef Sam get the word out about the amazing dishes that can be created with local food. Below are links to her weekly posts on the series.  Vegology is on Facebook too!
